I have always loved blankets and throws; they are in my genes. My paternal grandmother, Leone, descended from a pioneering family from Yorkshire who founded one of the earliest woolen mills in Oregon in the mid-19th century. Leone became a passionate hand-weaver herself throughout her life. Woolen blankets and throws have been gifts and heirlooms in our family for generations and I have dreamed of carrying on that tradition since I first discovered my own love of weaving with Leone.
Today, living and working in western France in the 21st century, I was invited by the Tricolor initiative to help the French Merino wool farmers to redevelop their market, and with them the talented spinners, weavers, and finishers who still operate their mills here. It is an honor for me to present our first collection of throws within such a collaboration.
STILL. is an expression of calm, of quiet, and of warmth.
